Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) invites veterinary students to participate in externships across our network of hospitals. externships provide hands-on clinical experience, exposure to day-to-day operations, and a supportive environment dedicated to excellent medicine and service to animals and their people.

Most externships run two to eight weeks and are open to students at any class year; stipends cover travel and living expenses and more details are available through the NVA careers page.

• Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
• Participation encouraged for all veterinary students to participate in NVA externships.

Job description

Externship Experience

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
