Abqpetcarehospital in Flagler Beach, Florida, offers a unique externship opportunity for veterinary students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment. Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories, perform exams, create treatment plans, and assist in surgical procedures.
The externship lasts from two to eight weeks and includes a travel/living expense stipend for eligible students, as well as comprehensive benefits like medical, dental, and 401(k) with employer match.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, they share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures, and managing patients medically. In addition to practicing clinical skills, externs will practice communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship experiences typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Flagler Animal Hospital are designed for clinical year students. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
