Crest Hill Animal Hospital in Crest Hill, IL is offering a veterinary externship for students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a busy, 5-doctor practice that recently moved into a renovated building in 2021.

Externs will work with the supervising veterinarian on patient histories, physical exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and observing or performing surgeries, while developing communication with the team and clients. A travel/living expense stipend is provided.

• Enrolment in veterinary studies and eligibility for externship.

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Crest Hill Animal Hospital is a fantastic 5 doctor practice! The clinic recently moved into a newly renovated building in 2021. We have two doctors that see exotics, so this is the perfect externship place for someone who has an interest in exotics!

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount forCrest Hill Animal Hospital is $1,500.
