Job description

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give veterinary students the opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice and gain hands‑on clinical experience. Responsibilities

• Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, and conduct diagnostics.
• Assist in dentistry services and observe or assist in surgical procedures.
• Participate in medical management of patients.
• Practice and improve communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship Details

• Duration ranges from 2 to 8 weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
• Externships at State Street Animal Clinic are designed for clinical year students.
• Housing may be available for out‑of‑town students.
• Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend of $1,000 at State Street Animal Clinic.
• Travel/living expense stipend amounts are available for clinical year students.
