Job summary

Merck & Co. seeks a Veterinary Laboratory Technician on a contract basis to support diagnostic studies and the development of point-of-care technologies. You will perform lab testing across biochemistry, hematology, and immunoassay analyzers, assist with sample acquisition, and manage study data and documentation.

The role emphasizes detailed data recording, protocol compliance, and effective communication with Medical Affairs teams to ensure study progress and quality of results.

Qualifications

• BSc/BA in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related discipline.
• Experience handling laboratory samples, equipment, and diagnostic instruments such as biochemistry, hematology, and immunoassay analyzers.
• Experience with laboratory documentation, record keeping, and data capture.
• Knowledge or experience within veterinary diagnostics would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conducting point-of-care and reference laboratory diagnostic instrument testing across instrument types (biochemistry, hematology, immunoassay).
• Supporting data collection for all clinical study activities including validation studies and product evaluation projects.
• Supporting sample acquisition efforts.
• Assisting with coordination, organization, and management of study supplies, samples, consumables, and equipment.
• Maintaining sterile laboratory conditions where required.
• Collaborating with reference laboratory colleagues to align studies with lab workflows.
• Providing regular updates to Medical Affairs regarding study progress.
