Job summary

Boston West Veterinary Emergency & Specialty, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, is seeking a Veterinary Criticalist in Natick, MA. This full-time role offers three 12-hour shifts per week with no weekends and dedicated teaching time; base salary $210,000–$250,000 depending on experience.

You’ll oversee high-acuity emergency and ICU cases, mentor ER clinicians, and help shape the development of the critical care service within a collaborative, team‑oriented hospital.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for Massachusetts state veterinary licensure.
• Board Certification in Emergency and Critical Care or Residency Trained in Emergency and Critical Care; newly boarded candidates are welcome.
• Strong communication skills and an enthusiasm for teaching, mentoring, and supporting other members of the veterinary team.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

• Manage high-acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage and stabilization.
• Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to protocol development.
• Perform advanced therapies based on available equipment (e.g., ventilation, high-flow oxygen).
• Support program growth initiatives such as blood bank services or residency development.
• Engage in ongoing CE and mentorship opportunities, including POCUS and echocardiography training.
