As a Veterinary Criticalist, responsibilities will include:
Assess, stabilise, and manage critically ill and injured patients
Oversee complex emergency and intensive care cases
Develop comprehensive diagnostic, treatment, and monitoring plans
Manage patients requiring advanced supportive and critical care
Perform emergency and critical care procedures appropriate to specialty practice
Interpret laboratory, imaging, and advanced monitoring findings
Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment with emergency veterinarians and other specialists
Provide clinical guidance to veterinary technicians and supporting team members
Communicate diagnoses, prognoses, treatment recommendations, and patient progress clearly to clients
Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records
Participate in collaborative case discussions and continuing education
Contribute to the ongoing development of emergency and critical care services
Maintain high standards of evidence‑based medicine and patient welfare
Applicants should hold a DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary qualification and have completed appropriate specialist training in veterinary emergency and critical care.
Candidates should be board‑certified or board‑eligible in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care and hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Washington State veterinary licence.
The ideal candidate will be collaborative, self‑motivated, and comfortable making clinical decisions within a fast‑paced critical care environment.
