Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health seeks a Veterinary Cardiologist in Bowie, MD for a full-time daytime schedule. The role focuses on advanced cardiology care, including interventional procedures, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across a multi-specialty team.

The candidate will diagnose and manage complex cardiac diseases, perform echocardiography and ECGs, and mentor team members in a teaching hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state licensure.
  • Board Certification in Cardiology (DACVIM-Cardiology) or residency-trained/board eligible in Cardiology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced medical and interventional cardiology care for outpatient and hospitalized patients.
  • Perform and interpret echocardiograms, ECGs, and Holter monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Neurology and other specialties.
  • Manage cardiology patients and coordinate with referring veterinarians.

The anticipated starting base salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $220,000 to $280,000 per year.

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Provide advanced medical and interventional cardiology care, diagnosing and managing a broad range of complex cardiac conditions in both outpatient and hospitalized patients.
  • Perform and interpret echocardiograms, thoracic radiographs, electrocardiograms (ECGs), and Holter or telemetry monitoring to guide patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Emergency & Critical Care, and other specialty services to deliver comprehensive multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Assist in the intake, evaluation, and ongoing management of hospitalized cardiology patients while supporting continuity of care across specialties.
  • Accept and manage both community referral cases and internal specialty referrals, building strong relationships with referring veterinarians and hospital colleagues.
  • Create individualized treatment plans and guide pet owners through cardiac diagnoses, treatment options, and long-­term management strategies with empathy, clarity, and confidence.
  • Facilitate in-­house specialty consultations and provide expert cardiovascular support to Emergency and Critical Care teams as needed.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical records while ensuring timely communication with clients and referral partners.
  • Participate in collaborative rounds, case discussions, educational initiatives, and mentoring opportunities that contribute to ongoing professional growth and clinical excellence.
  • Contribute to a hospital culture centered on learning, collaboration, innovation, and exceptional patient outcomes.
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Cardiology (DACVIM-Cardiology) or Residency Trained/Board Eligible in Cardiology.
