Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare's Pet Urgent Care in La Mesa, CA is hiring a Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team.

You will perform outpatient care, assist with surgeries, manage records, and support veterinarians while delivering compassionate service.

The role requires 2+ years veterinary clinic experience, weekend shifts, and a 4-day, 10-hour work week with Sundays necessary.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a veterinary clinic is required (2+ years).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Comfort with end-to-end patient care, including outpatient treatments and lab work.

Responsibilities

*Please note this role will require shifts on weekends. This will include a 4-day work week, 10-hour shifts. Shift Days can be negotiable, but Sundays are necessary for this position. *

*Candidates must have at least 2 years of recent experience working in a Veterinary Clinic to be considered.

At Pet Urgent Care, we offer walk-in, same day appointments for dogs and cats in La Mesa and the surrounding areas.

We provide same-day, outpatient services for pets with non-life-threatening conditions that still need to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

Pet Urgent Carel is looking for a Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Technician/Assistant, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with the state's Veterinary Practice Act
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and be able to go over treatment plan estimates, answering any questions the client may have.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $19 - $24 / hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
