BluePearl Pet Hospital in Stone Oak, TX is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department. The Surgery Assistant will provide nursing care to stable patients and support post-operative client communication.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of experience in a veterinary hospital, can work independently within a team, and are comfortable with IV catheter placement and fluid administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Set up and monitor intravenous fluids, and manage fluid therapy.
• Monitor vital parameters and alert doctors to abnormalities.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein when needed.
• Assist the surgical team and support post-operative client communication.
• Operates IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Stone Oak, TX is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department.

A BluePearl Surgery Assistant will be responsible for some post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administrates subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
