Job summary

Community Veterinary Partners is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant for a busy AAHA-accredited General Practice Hospital in West Deptford, NJ. The role supports veterinarians and technicians, prepares animals for exams, administers medications as directed, and assists with routine procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining a clean environment, monitoring patient condition, and communicating care instructions to pet owners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
• Basic knowledge of animal handling and safety procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners and veterinary staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations and treatments by restraining animals and preparing equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and kennels.
• Feed, water, and exercise animals as needed, monitoring behavior and reporting concerns.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
• Communicate with pet owners by providing post-treatment care instructions and scheduling follow-ups.
