Job summary

Veritas Veterinary Partners in Las Vegas, NV is seeking an oncology assistant to work under the supervision of doctors, performing duties such as maintaining IV catheters, administering medications, preparing radiographs, and handling blood samples. You will provide compassionate care for hospitalized patients and engage in extensive client education on oncology care.

Schedule: four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Saturday, with open to split shifts.

Qualifications

• 2+ years working as a Veterinary Assistant.
• Proficiency in processing basic laboratory specimens.
• Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Understanding of normal vs abnormal physiologic ranges.
• Providing empathy, comfort, and high-quality nursing care.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to deliver exceptional client service.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of IV catheters.
• Calculate and administer both oral and injectable medications.
• Accurately calculate, deliver, and maintain anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs.
• Safely position and take radiographs and prepare blood samples for diagnostics.
• Administer chemotherapy as directed, following protocols.
• Provide compassionate care for hospitalized patients.
• Educate clients on oncology disease processes.
• Maintain accurate treatment sheets.

About the Job: The oncology assistant will take direction from and perform duties under the supervision of doctors.
How you'll make a difference

• Maintenance of IV catheters
• Calculate and administer both oral and injectable medications

• Safely position and take radiographs and obtain and prepare various blood samples for diagnostic testing

• Provide quality, compassionate care for hospitalized patients
