Urban Animal in Seattle, WA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our worker-owned cooperative. You will perform exams, take vitals, present estimates, and assist in surgery across two fast-paced walk-in locations.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, collaborative teamwork, and a path toward ownership within the cooperative structure. Qualified candidates will have veterinary assistant experience and strong teamwork, with a commitment to stress management in a busy setting and a drive

Qualifications

• Experience working as a veterinary assistant (required). Background in emergency/referral or specialty practices is a plus.
• Ability to maintain positive and cooperative relationships with team members.
• Stress management skills in a busy, fast-paced team atmosphere.
• Interest in pursuing individualized professional goals.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs and history for exams
• Creates and presents estimates to clients
• Safely restrains cats and dogs for exams, diagnostics, and treatments
• Takes radiographs with proper positioning and technique
• Prepares and submits laboratory samples
• Draws up and administers vaccines, SQ or IM injections, and SQ fluids
• Performs ear cleaning and medicating, nail trims, anal gland expression
• Prints prescription labels and fills medications
• Assists in surgery and treatment areas
