Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and staff while maintaining high-quality care. A NAVTA-approved program certification or equivalent is preferred, with a high school diploma or equivalent as a baseline.

You will help manage patient flow, communicate with the medical team, and assist with procedures that do not require a doctor.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to perform all required NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program skills to aid in practice efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining flow of patients and assisting veterinarians and vet techs.
• Communicating with veterinarians and vet techs.
• Carrying out or setting up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance.
• Adhering to hospital standards to keep pets safe and labs clean and organized.
• Educating clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care.
• Mentoring other members of the hospital team.
