Elk Creek Animal Hospital is hiring Veterinary Assistants for its Fisherville and Mt. Washington locations. This full-time role offers a 4-day work week with rotating 4-hour Saturday shifts, with no nights, weekends, or holidays.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary assistant or animal-care experience preferred
• Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented attitude
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy hospital environment
• Confidence working with dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during appointments, treatments, and procedures
• Safely handle and restrain patients using compassionate techniques
• Obtain patient histories and record vital signs
• Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment for patient care
• Collect and prepare laboratory samples as directed
• Assist with in-house laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under supervision of the veterinary team
• Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam and treatment areas
• Accurately document patient care and client communication
• Educate and support clients regarding basic care instructions and hospital services
• Work closely with doctors, technicians, assistants, and receptionists to keep the hospital running smoothly
