Job summary

The Humane Society of Boulder Valley (HSBV) is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our full-service public veterinary hospital in Boulder, CO. You will assist veterinarians, prepare exam rooms, and educate clients while supporting in-house lab work and patient care on a 40-hour week with weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in customer service or working with the public preferred.
• Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarian in examination and treatment of animals.
• Record patient history and vitals; document notes in medical records.
• Prepare medications, vaccines, and treatments; fill prescriptions as needed.
• Maintain and sterilize exam rooms and equipment.
• Educate clients on animal care and promote hospital services.
• Perform in-house lab tests and support with euthanasia if needed.
