VCA Blackstone Valley Animal Hospital in Uxbridge, MA is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our general practice team on a full-time or part-time basis. You will be involved in exams, prep, treatments, and keeping the hospital running smoothly.

You’ll gain hands-on skills across wellness visits and procedures, work closely with veterinarians and technicians, and enjoy a role with variety, growth, and meaningful patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary assistant or equivalent.
• Ability to monitor vital signs and report changes.
• Strong teamwork and communication with staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in behavior, comfort, and vitals.
• Assist with exams, treatments, and diagnostics.
• Prepare treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgical suites maintaining cleanliness.
• Support patient husbandry, including feeding, walking, cage cleaning, and comfort care.
• Assist with laboratory procedures and basic diagnostic testing.
• Administer medications and maintain accurate patient records.
• Assist with client communication and discharge coordination.
• Communicate clearly with veterinarians and the care team to keep patients moving smoothly.

VCA Blackstone Valley Animal Hospital is seeking a compassionate and dedicated experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our general practice team on a full time, or part time basis.

Working as a veterinary assistant means being part of every patient's care from the moment they walk in to the moment they head home - assisting with exams, prepping patients for procedures, working as a veterinary team during treatments and diagnostics, and helping keep the whole hospital running smoothly.

You’ll build hands-on skills across a wide variety of cases, from wellness visits to more involved procedures, working closely alongside veterinarians and technicians every step of the way. It’s a role built for variety and growth, where every day brings something new and every patient benefits from the care you help provide.

Compensation: $19.00 - $23.00/ hour dependent on experience, and skill set.

Potential Schedule: Full time & Part time roles. Weekend rotation required.

Veterinary Assistant Skills

• Monitors hospitalized patients, observing and reporting changes in behavior, comfort, and vital signs to the veterinary team
