Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center in Middletown, CT is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join a VECCS Level I facility dedicated to high-quality patient care and teamwork.

You will support veterinarians and technicians, handle basic surgery prep, patient restraint, and client communication in a fast-paced environment while growing professionally through in-house CE opportunities and a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working in a veterinary setting, ideally in an ER setting.
• Experience handling animals and performing basic animal care tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and team members.
• Ability to multi task and remain organized in a fast paced environment.
• Willingness to continue learning and stay updated on veterinary practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinary Technicians and veterinarians in clinical tasks and procedures.
• Support emergency and primary care teams in a VECCS Level I facility.
• Handle basic surgery prep and animal restraint as needed.
• Maintain a compassionate and professional client experience in a fast-paced setting.

About You

We strongly believe that veterinary medicine is a team sport and our ideal candidate is someone who feels the same This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment that is always evolving and communicates well with others We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant who is already comfortable with handlingrestraint basic surgery prep and assisting Veterinary Technicians and other staff members in a clinical setting Experience with EzyVet and Smartflow are an additional plus but not required We highly value collaboration from all staff members so please speak up as your input is not only valued but can make a difference

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full time position Schedule A Tuesday 4pm 2am Thursday 2pm 12am Friday 2pm 12am Saturday 2pm 12am Schedule B Sunday 4pm 2am Monday 4pm 2am Thursday 4pm 2am Friday 4pm 2am Holidays are required

Compensation

1900 2300 an hour dependent on experience and education

Requirements

• Prior experience working in a veterinary setting ideally in an ER setting
