Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team in a dual-role position supporting both Emergency/Triage and Oncology. This role offers hands-on experience in emergency and specialty veterinary medicine and the chance to learn from an experienced team.

The position is Saturday–Monday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. in Chattanooga, TN, with competitive pay and a generous benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming emergency patients and assist with prioritizing patient needs.

• Prepare patients and equipment for procedures.
• Monitor patients and communicate changes to the medical team.

About the Position

As a Veterinary Assistant – Emergency Triage & Oncology, you will support two specialty areas of our hospital.

In Emergency/Triage, you will help assess and manage incoming emergency patients, obtain patient information and vital signs, assist with procedures and treatments, and help our emergency team provide efficient, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

In Oncology, you will assist with appointments, patient handling and restraint, medication preparation and dispensing, client communication, and patient follow-up.

This is a hands-on position that requires someone who is adaptable, dependable, compassionate, and eager to learn.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Emergency & Triage

• Triage incoming emergency patients and assist with prioritizing patient needs
• Obtain and document patient histories and vital signs

• Communicate effectively with doctors, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members

• Follow hospital safety, patient-care, and infection-control protocols

Previous veterinary experience is not required, although veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel, shelter, or other animal-care experience is preferred. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.
