Cornelius Veterinary Clinic, part of AmeriVet, is seeking an Experienced Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our small-animal team caring for dogs and cats, with occasional care for rabbits and other small mammals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or currently pursuing one.
• Previous veterinary experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong animal-handling and communication skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with exams, treatments and patient care.
• Restrain and safely handle patients.
• Obtain and record patient vital signs.
• Assist with laboratory testing, radiographs, and basic procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with surgical monitoring and recovery.
• Provide nursing care, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and monitoring hospitalized patients.
• Assist with client communication, patient check-in/check-out and medication instructions.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical spaces.
• Follow OSHA, safety, sanitation and patient-care protocols.
