Job summary

PetVet Care Centers Guilford-Jamestown Veterinary Hospital in Greensboro, NC is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, patient care, and clerical work. You will help with grooming, sanitation, restraint, meds, and charting while delivering compassionate service to clients and their pets.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to safety and wellness protocols, and ongoing client education.

Qualifications

• Patient triage and assessment.
• Monitoring vital signs (TPR, BP, ECG, pulse oximetry).
• Venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
• Blood draws and laboratory sample preparation.
• In-house laboratory diagnostics (CBC, chemistry, UA, cytology, fecals, SNAP tests).
• Surgical preparation and sterile technique.
• Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
• Calculating drug dosages and CRI rates.
• Administering medications (IM, SQ, IV, PO).
• Radiology positioning and radiation safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, record weight and vitals on arrival.
• Triage patients, assist with physical exams, treatments, and meds.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors with medications and restraints.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and records.
• Fill prescriptions and document medications.
• Educate clients about wellness and plans.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and safety.
