Job summary

Destination Pet, LLC Nebel Street Animal Hospital in Rockville, MD, seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join our team and help provide compassionate nursing care and client support. You will assist veterinarians, maintain medical records, and support daily operations in a fast-paced clinic.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year clinic experience, is friendly and detail-oriented, and can lift up to 40 pounds. Evening/weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
• High school diploma.
• Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Comfortable restraining animals during medical examinations.
• Proficient with computer system and multi-line telephone.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintaining accurate medical records.
• Filling prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explaining prescription directions.
• Assisting receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and providing telephone support.
• Performing various laboratory tests.
• Keeping our facilities clean and well maintained.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
