Overview

Quioccasin Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full-time or part-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Located at 9218 Quioccasin Rd, Richmond, VA 23229, we offer a wage of $15 - $17 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. We are a growing, 5-doctor, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital dedicated to high-quality, compassionate care for dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Clinic Hours
  • Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (rotating Saturdays required)
Shift Details
  • Flexible weekday scheduling
  • Saturday rotation required
What We’re Looking For

We seek a dedicated and motivated team member who:

  • Has experience in restraint techniques and is familiar with medical terminology
  • May be a current or past student of a local veterinary science program
  • Possesses a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and self-starting mindset
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintains a clean hospital environment and takes pride in hygiene
  • Is comfortable with room check-ins and acting as a scribe

  • Ultrasound: On-site diagnostic via Butterfly mobile ultrasound

  • Fear Free Practices: Low-stress handling techniques
  • Cat Friendly: Separate exam rooms, open cat condos, and window views

  • Software: Impromed
  • Diagnostics: IDEXX in-house lab equipment
  • Dental Suite: Dual digital dental X-ray units
Renovation Updates

We are in the final phase of hospital renovations, with new spaces designed to improve workflow and elevate patient care, including 9 exam rooms, 2 compassion rooms, 2 acupuncture rooms, a surgery suite, and a modern dental suite. Renovations are scheduled for completion by summer.

Responsibilities

How you'll make an impact:

  • Assist Veterinarians and Technicians in all duties
  • Prepare animals for exams and surgery

  • Perform or prepare laboratory tests
  • Administer medications under supervision
  • Handle and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Collaborate with staff to meet immediate needs
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment
Qualifications

The role requires physical ability to stand, walk, and manipulate animals up to 50 pounds, work in noisy environments, and handle pets that may bite or scratch.
