Wellshire Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

We’re looking for a versatile and motivated Veterinary Assistant who enjoys variety in their day and takes pride in being an important part of a veterinary team. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant.
  • Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint.
  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Willingness to assist surgery and outpatient procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records.

Wellshire Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support exceptional experiences for our clients and patients across all aspects of hospital care.

We’re looking for a versatile and motivated Veterinary Assistant who enjoys variety in their day and takes pride in being an important part of a veterinary team. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

The ideal candidate is dependable, team-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to multitask, anticipate team needs, communicate professionally, and provide excellent support throughout every stage of the patient visit. We’re looking for someone who is confident in their abilities, enjoys staying engaged, and is excited to continue growing their veterinary skillset.

In this position, you will take an active role in:

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Providing safe, stress-free patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care
  • Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
  • Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces
Schedule and compensation:
  • Compensation: $21 - $23 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday and rotating Saturdays.

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
  • 3+ years of experience in a veterinary assistant required
  • Proficiency in the following skills:
    • Safe and stress-free animal handling and restraint skills for dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments
    • Strong client communication skills
    • Ability to assist and set up surgery preferred, but willing to train
    • Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles
    • Ability to assist with exams, treatments, blood draws, and outpatient procedures
    • Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs
    • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members
