Job description

The veterinary assistant is essential to the entire team's success, providing crucial support across all departments to ensure exceptional care for clients and patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient care and treatment.
  • Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post‑surgery care.
  • Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed.
  • Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
  • Support routine diagnostic tests, including radiographs, blood work, and fecal sample analysis.
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and exam and treatment areas.
  • Administer medications under the supervision of a Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
  • Feed and bathe animals.
  • Answer phone calls and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assistance clients with their pets' needs.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine enjoyment of working with animals, including those that may be stressed, ill, or in pain.
  • Preference for candidates with 1+ years of experience, although it is not required.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, and restraining animals. Assistance will be available for lifting animals over 40 lbs; must be able to lift 40 lbs independently.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods and frequently work in a bent or squatting position.
  • Experience with teamwork and the ability to collaborate well with all levels of hospital staff.
