Job summary

A veterinary clinic in Central Point is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join their busy practice. Responsibilities

  • Assist in surgery and monitor surgery patients.

Job description

Mountain View Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our busy practice in Central Point, Oregon.

  • Starting Salary: $19 - 21 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications and licensure
  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 10‑hour shifts. Closed Friday - Sunday.
  • Additional Benefits: Scrub allowance

Who you are:
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience as a veterinary technician or assistant in a veterinary clinical setting required
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with animals and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, exotics and pocket pets a plus!
  • Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
  • Perform basic exam procedures
  • Skilled in venipuncture/blood draws (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
  • Able to perform digital radiology (X‑ray) including positioning
  • Comfortable with monitoring general anesthesia and surgical assisting, post‑operative care and recovery
  • Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); automated in‑house machines
  • Excellent client communication/education
  • Adaptable to new ways of working with current medical team and doctors

The ideal candidate would be compassionate towards our patients and clients. Be confident in rooming patients, assisting in surgery, monitoring surgery patients, surgical recovery, drawing blood and running bloodwork, knowledge of x‑ray and proper positioning, experience with in‑clinic laboratory equipment, comfortable with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education and is a positive and supportive team player. A positive and motivating attitude is a must.
