Job summary

Montville Veterinary Group, a busy companion animal practice, seeks an enthusiastic team member to assist with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and help with routine tasks. Duties include restraint during exams, assisting with radiographs and bloodwork, sterilizing instruments, and maintaining a clean hospital environment.

Base hourly rate of $18-$22 based on experience. We value a self-starter who enjoys animals and teamwork, with opportunities for growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle stressed or in-pain pets.
  • Prefer 1+ years of experience; willing to train the right individual.
  • Must meet the physical demands: lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care and treatment.
  • Monitor hospitalized pets and aid in post-surgery care.
  • Maintain inventory and stocking.
  • Restrain animals during exams, blood draws, and nail trims.
  • Assist with diagnostic tests such as radiographs and bloodwork.
  • Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments/equipment.
  • Clean/disinfect cages, kennels, and treatment areas.
  • Administer medications under supervision.
  • Feeding/bathing animals.
  • Answer phones and provide customer service.
  • Help clients with their pets.

Job Description Overview
  • Assist with patient care and treatment
  • Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
  • Maintain inventory and stocking
  • Restrain animals during physical exam, blood draws, and nail trims
  • Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs, running bloodwork, etc.)
  • Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
  • Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas of hospital
  • Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
  • Feeding/bathing animals
  • Answering phones
  • Customer service
  • Helping clients with their pets
Qualifications
  • Must be 18yrs old or older
  • Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
  • Genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
  • Prefer 1+ years of experience, but willing to train the right individual.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
  • Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
  • Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
Compensation

Base hourly rate of $18-$22 based on experience
