Job summary

Southside Animal Hospital in Lansing, MI is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join a compassionate team. Part-time or full-time positions are available, starting at $15.00/hour based on experience.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians and licensed technicians, restraining animals, maintaining clean exam rooms and kennels, caring for hospitalized patients, and communicating with clients. Prior clinic experience is helpful but not required, with on-the-job training offered.

Qualifications

• Assist veterinarians and licensed technicians with exams, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Clean and prepare exam rooms, surgical instruments, and kennels.
• Provide attentive care to hospitalized and post-op patients.
• Communicate with clients in a friendly, professional manner.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with filling prescriptions.
• Support general clinic upkeep and inventory.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic preferred, but not required – we’re happy to train the right person!
• Must be able to lift 40+ lbs and assist with animal handling.
