Job summary

VCA Ashford Animal Hospital in Houston, TX is seeking a veterinary assistant to join our general practice team. This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.

The salary starts at $15.00 to $17.00 per hour and requires a minimum of 2 years of experience. You will support the Doctor and Technician teams with exams, patient histories, lab work, imaging, and maintaining records in a caring, low-stress environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary support.
• Ability to restrain and assist during exams and procedures.
• Experience taking histories, vitals, and recording notes.

Responsibilities

• Restrain and assist in exams and routine procedures.
• Take medical histories and patient vitals.
• Assist with prescriptions as allowed by law.
• Perform lab work and diagnostic imaging.
• Provide compassionate care for hospitalized animals.

VCA Ashford Animal Hospital is seeking a veterinary assistant to join our general practice team!

Location: Houston, TX, 77077.

Full-time, 40 hours

The salary range for this position is starting at $15.00 - $17.00 / hour

Minimum 2 years of experience

As a member of the VCA team, you will support the Technician and Doctor teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients. Your mission will be to win the confidence of every pet parent—by delivering an outstanding client experience—so we can provide exceptional care to every patient. The skills that will be utilized include, but are not limited to:

• Restraining and assisting in patient exams and routine procedures.
• Taking detailed medical histories and patient vitals.
• Filling prescriptions (as allowed by law).
• Performing laboratory work and diagnostic imaging.
• Providing compassionate care for our hospitalized animals.
• Maintaining medical records.
• Assisting our wonderful Doctor and Technician staff as needed.
• Maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment.
