Job summary

Bentley Animal Hospital in the St. Louis area is hiring full-time and part-time Veterinary Assistants to join a team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. You will assist during examinations and surgeries, safely handle animals, prepare exam rooms, run basic lab tests, and communicate care plans to pet owners.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and surgeries.
• Safely restrain and handle animals.
• Prepare rooms and sterilize equipment.
• Collect samples for basic lab tests.
• Administer medications and vaccines under supervision.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals.
• Maintain accurate medical records.

Bentley Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time and part-time Veterinary Assistants to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during their stay with us. Salary

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.

Schedule

We are currently hiring for both full-time and part-time positions. Our hospital is open Monday through Saturday. Typical shifts are 8:00 AM–2:00 PM or 2:00 PM–7:00 PM, with occasional Friday shifts from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM and Saturday shifts from 8:00 AM–2:00 PM. Scheduling will vary based on the position and practice needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
• Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
