Oaklawn Animal Hospital in Cranston, RI is seeking a compassionate veterinary assistant to join our AAHA-certified team. You will work in Rarebreed clinic facilities with modern equipment, contributing to high-quality pet care and client service in a family‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities include clinical care, medical records, exam room prep, patient assessments, estimates for procedures, and clear home-care instructions. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• 1+ year veterinary experience or education.
• Team-oriented with ability to multi-task.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Successful reference and background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones.
• Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
• Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Perform physical assessments and record observations.
• Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.
• Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions.
• Stock clinic treatment area and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered.
• Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery.

$19‑23 hourly pay rate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones.
