Job summary

Mission Pet Health seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join a dedicated team at Waukee-Clive Veterinary Clinic, AAHA-accredited since 1978. You will support veterinarians with hands-on patient care, client communication, and clinic operations in a collaborative environment that emphasizes mentorship and growth.

You will contribute to a high standard of care and benefit from opportunities for professional development, including AVMA-accredited technician program education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required to join the team.
• Calm, efficient demeanor in a fast-paced environment is essential.
• Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments are needed.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are a must for smooth clinic operations.
• Proficiency in basic veterinary tasks across lab, pharmacy, nursing and radiology is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide Essential Patient Care: assist the medical team with hands-on patient care and compassionate handling.
• Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: anticipate needs to ensure a smooth, collaborative workflow.
• Create a Positive Client Experience: assist with scheduling, payments, and communications with courtesy.
• Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: maintain hospital and equipment to uphold high standards.

What You'll Bring to the Team

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
