Job summary

Court Street Animal Hospital in Brockton, MA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and the medical team in delivering compassionate patient care. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety and quality service for hospitalized pets and their clients.

You will assist during exams, prepare and administer medications, support anesthesia and surgery, obtain radiographs, and help maintain a clean, organized hospital environment. Ongoing learning is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, high-quality care to all patients.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with veterinarians, colleagues and clients.
  • Assist veterinarians during exams, including safe and effective pet restraint.
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines and treatments as directed.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving surgical sites and assisting with IV catheter placement.
  • Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery to ensure patient safety.
  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs using proper positioning and safety techniques.
  • Collect, prepare and label laboratory samples for testing.
  • Fill prescriptions accurately, including measuring and labeling medications.
  • Clean, sterilise and maintain surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Keep exam rooms and treatment areas clean, stocked and organised.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth hospital operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant plays a vital role in supporting veterinarians and the medical team in delivering exceptional patient care.
