Job summary

B & A Animal Hospital in Boaz, AL is seeking a veterinary assistant or technician to join our team. You will assist in exams, surgeries, dentals, and patient care, and help maintain accurate medical records while communicating effectively with clients.

Fluent in Spanish and English preferred; experience in lab work and diagnostic imaging is a plus. We offer benefits, paid time off, continuing education allowance, and a supportive work environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician preferred.
• Experience in exam rooms, treatment area, surgery, dentals and their associated technical skills is preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish and English preferred.
• Ability to create, monitor, and maintain detailed/accurate patient records.
• Proactive mindset, with a strong ability to anticipate our doctors' needs.
• An ability to effectively educate our clients about their pet’s health.
• Effective Communication Skills are Paramount
• Empathy and compassion for our patients and their owners is a must.
• We prefer a Registered or Licensed Veterinary Technician, however, a Veterinary Assistant with extensive experience and appropriate skill sets will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint, triage incoming patients.
• Collection and analysis of lab samples.
• Diagnostic imaging and nursing care of medical/hospitalized cases.
• Administration of medications and anesthetic management.
• Effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
• Surgical preparation and assistance.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Additional Information

Pay: $10–$15/hour. Experience preferred, but not required.
