Job description

Overview
A More Balanced Approach to Veterinary Medicine

Are you an experienced veterinarian looking for a little more balance without stepping away from veterinary medicine? This opportunity offers the chance to work fewer days while continuing to practice high-quality medicine in collaborative environment, without the commitment of a full-time schedule.

CareVet of Ancient City in St. Augustine is looking for a veterinarian to join our experienced, supportive team. This is an opportunity to put your years of knowledge and experience to work while enjoying the flexibility and work-life balance that comes with a part-time schedule.

You’ll be supported by an established team and experienced management, with the autonomy to practice medicine in a way that works for you. Whether you’re looking to scale back your hours, create more flexibility in your schedule, or transition away from full-time practice, we’d love to talk with you.

Our hospital combines the personalized, small-town feel of a close-knit practice with the resources, technology, and compensation structure typically found in larger organizations.

What We Offer
  • Flexible scheduling
  • No strict appointment quotas or “25–30 pets a day” expectations
  • Flexible appointment lengths so you can focus on quality care
About the Hospital

We practice high-quality, progressive veterinary medicine while maintaining the warmth and relationships of a community-focused hospital. While we are not formally accredited, we incorporate low-stress handling and fear‑free techniques to ensure the best experience for pets and their owners.

Our team collaborates closely with local specialists and referral partners, creating an environment where you’re never practicing alone. We maintain direct relationships with specialists including criticalists, surgeons, radiologists, internists, oncologists, neurologists, and ophthalmologists.

We also partner with a mobile internal medicine specialist who provides both telehealth and in-person consultations, including advanced diagnostics such as ultrasound, echocardiography, and endoscopy.

For particularly fearful or reactive patients, we even collaborate with a local trainer who offers real‑time behavioral support during visits, helping create a safer and more positive experience for pets and staff alike.

Diagnostic & Treatment Capabilities

Our clinicians are supported with strong diagnostic tools, including:

  • IDEXX chemistry, hematology, and urine Sedivue
  • Digital radiography with AI radiologist consult tool
  • Access to board‑certified radiologist support
  • Ultrasound
  • Tonopen
  • Therapeutic laser
  • Doppler blood pressure monitoring
Practice Environment
  • 3 exam rooms
  • General practice + urgent care services
  • Strong relationships with nearby specialty hospitals for advanced diagnostics such as CT and advanced surgery when needed
