Job description

Who we are:

Associate Veterinarian | Hillcrest Animal Hospital | Rockford, Illinois

Full-Time or Part-Time | New Graduates & Experienced Veterinarians Welcome

Hillcrest Animal Hospital in Rockford, Illinois is looking for a compassionate Associate Veterinarian to join our collaborative, close-knit team. Whether you’re a new graduate looking for strong mentorship or an experienced veterinarian seeking a supportive practice with an excellent work-life balance, we’d love to meet you!

We are a 100% small animal hospital committed to providing compassionate, community-based veterinary care while creating a workplace where people genuinely enjoy working together.

Work-Life Balance That’s Truly a Priority

• Full-time or part-time scheduling available

• No on-call responsibilities

• No after-hours or weekend requirements

• A schedule designed to support a healthy, sustainable work-life balance

Our team culture is one of the things we’re most proud of. We have six licensed veterinary technicians and many experienced veterinary assistants who work together seamlessly to support our doctors and patients.

Morale is excellent, teamwork comes naturally, and we genuinely have fun together — all while keeping patient care as our top priority. Our doctors frequently collaborate and discuss cases together, creating an environment where everyone can continue learning from one another.

Mentorship & Professional Growth

• Surgical mentorship and training available

• Support with appointments and case management

• Opportunities to learn directly from experienced doctors

• Collaborative case discussions

• Generous continuing education support

If you have a particular area of interest, we’re also open to helping you grow and expand services within the hospital. Reproductive medicine is one area that could be developed further for the right veterinarian.

Our Hospital

Hillcrest Animal Hospital offers a spacious, well-equipped environment designed to support both excellent medicine and efficient patient care. Our facility includes:

• 6½ exam rooms

• Two surgical suites

• Wide-open treatment area with four exam tables

• Ultrasound

• Digital radiography

• Dental radiography

• Surgical monitoring equipment

• Surgical cutting laser

• Experienced technical and support staff

Connected to the Community

We believe being a great veterinary hospital means being an active part of the community we serve. Hillcrest Animal Hospital partners with local organizations, including Cause for Paws, and takes pride in building meaningful relationships within the Rockford community.

Rockford offers a great combination of community, recreation, and accessibility. The hospital is located in a welcoming area with easy access to parks, trails, outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and Anderson Japanese Gardens. When you’re ready for a bigger-city adventure, Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin are both approximately an hour away, giving you plenty of options for dining, entertainment, shopping, sports, and weekend getaways.

What We Offer

We believe in investing in our people and providing a comprehensive benefits package, including:

• Competitive salary

• Medical, dental & vision insurance

• 401(k) retirement plan

• Paid vacation and sick time

• Employee Assistance Program

• Generous continuing education allowance

• Professional dues

• Professional liability coverage

• And more!
