Medical Director – Anderson Veterinary Clinic

Anderson Veterinary Clinic, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a Medical Director to lead medical and surgical care, set standards, mentor staff, and drive operational excellence in the Anderson and greater Redding region of Northern California.

About You

You are a veterinary leader with a passion for excellence, strong communication, and a collaborative mindset. You will partner with the Practice Manager and hospital leadership to guide medical direction and maintain the highest standards of patient and client care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality medical and surgical care to patients.
  • Manage, direct, and oversee the medical, surgical, and client service performance of veterinarians.
  • Establish, review, and uphold medical standards, protocols, and best practices.
  • Monitor doctor‑specific KPIs related to medical quality and patient care.
  • Review medical records to ensure accuracy and adherence to hospital standards.
  • Oversee case management, medical decision making, and quality of care.
  • Mentor and support associate veterinarians and clinical teams.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to align medical quality with operational goals.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and positive hospital culture.
  • Address medical concerns, client complaints, and complex cases as needed.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of veterinarians.
  • Promote continuing education and clinical growth for veterinary teams.
  • Stay current on advances in veterinary medicine and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree.
  • State Veterinary Board License in good standing in the state of employment.
  • Active DEA license or eligibility for DEA licensure.
  • Proven clinical experience in companion animal veterinary medicine.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
