Overview

Dale City Animal Hospital in Woodbridge, VA is searching for a Managing Veterinarian to join their team! The practice has been serving the community for over 30 years and recently relocated to a newly renovated 7,000‑square‑foot facility. They are a 3‑doctor practice currently and anticipate expanding the team as the practice grows. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can help build the practice and use their skills to advance veterinary medicine in the community.

Additional perks for relocating MDVMs include $20,000 or more toward stress‑free relocation assistance with the corporate relocation partner, a generous sign‑on bonus, and a student debt repayment allowance.

Work‑Life Balance

The practice supports a strong work‑life balance with a rotating schedule of 4‑ and 5‑day work weeks. Occasional Saturday work may be required as the DVM team grows. The facility does not house pets overnight and does not offer appointments past 7:00 pm. The practice is closed on the six federal holidays and offers customized scheduling to fit each team member’s needs, including the MDVM.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee surgical and medical cases for all doctors, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication/education.
  • Manage financial performance of the hospital, including revenue and contribution growth and all expenses.
  • Perform wellness and sick appointments, physical examinations, and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures.
  • Monitor DVM performance, production, and ensure current licensure for all DVMs.
  • Stay educated on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
  • Train all medical staff, including mentoring new graduates.
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and logs.
  • Increase hospital community involvement through partnerships with community leaders and engagement with local support groups to support pet care needs.
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing DVMs and general staff.
  • Maintain and improve medical standards, quality of care, hospital compliance, and AAHA accreditation.
  • Partner with the Hospital Manager to develop and deliver staff training programs, handle hiring/termination, resolve staff concerns, drive community involvement, participate in technician appraisal and counseling, and promote growth and innovation. Prepare an annual planning matrix, operating budget, and capital budget with support from the hospital team and divisional leadership.
