Job description

Global Talent Partners is excited to present an excellent opportunity for an Urgent Care Veterinarian to join a busy and well-established small animal hospital in Tacoma, Washington.

This position offers an excellent middle ground between general practice and traditional emergency medicine. You'll focus on same-day, urgent and time-sensitive cases within a structured clinical environment, without the demands of overnight emergency work. With a 4:1 support staff-to-doctor ratio, flexible shifts and an experienced clinical team, you'll have the resources to work through cases efficiently while maintaining a high standard of patient care.

About the Practice

This established companion animal hospital serves a large and active client base across the Tacoma area and has developed an efficient urgent care service for pets requiring prompt assessment and treatment.

The urgent care caseload can include:
  • Acute illness and same-day presentations
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Respiratory concerns
  • Wounds and minor trauma
  • Lameness and musculoskeletal injuries
  • Allergic reactions
  • Ear and eye complaints
  • Urinary concerns
  • Pain management
  • Minor emergencies
  • Diagnostic workups
  • Stabilization of more critical patients prior to referral when required

The hospital is supported by modern diagnostic and treatment facilities, allowing doctors to quickly investigate cases and make informed clinical decisions.

The Team

One of the major advantages of this opportunity is the level of clinical support available.

The hospital maintains an impressive 4:1 support staff-to-veterinarian ratio, with an experienced nursing and support team accustomed to managing high-flow and urgent cases.

This allows veterinarians to focus more of their time on examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning and client communication while the wider team supports patient care and clinical workflow.

The culture is collaborative and organized, with doctors and support staff working closely together to keep cases moving efficiently, even during busier periods.

The Opportunity

Unlike a traditional GP position, this role is specifically focused on urgent and same-day medicine, making it an excellent option for veterinarians who enjoy variety, problem-solving and a faster clinical pace.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop further experience in urgent medicine while maintaining greater schedule predictability than many traditional emergency positions.

This could be particularly attractive for:
  • Experienced urgent care veterinarians
  • Emergency veterinarians looking for more predictable hours
  • GP veterinarians interested in transitioning into urgent care
  • Doctors who enjoy diagnostics and medical case management
  • Veterinarians who thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary up to $170,000, depending on experience
  • Flexible shift options
  • Strong 4:1 clinical support ratio
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Continuing education support
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Veterinary license and professional membership support
  • Retirement benefits
  • Employee pet care benefits
  • Opportunities to further develop urgent and emergency medicine skills
