Job description

Associate Veterinarian – Flexible Full or Part-Time Schedule. Join a Veterinary Team that cares for Pets, Clients, and Each Other!

At Greenfield Animal Hospital, we believe great veterinary medicine starts with compassion for our patients, their families, and the people who care for them.

For more than 60 years, Greenfield Animal Hospital has been a trusted part of the Metro Detroit area. As an independently owned, AAHA-accredited hospital, we combine high-quality medicine with a personalized approach that allows our team to focus on what matters most: building meaningful relationships and providing exceptional care.

We are also proud to be a Certified Cat Friendly Practice through the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (FelineVMA), reflecting our commitment to reducing fear, anxiety, and stress for feline patients through thoughtful hospital design, low-stress handling techniques, and patient-centered care. Our feline patients are seen in dedicated exam rooms located away from the sights and sounds of dogs, creating a calmer, more comfortable experience for both cats and their caregivers.

We're currently seeking a full or part-time veterinarian who wants to practice high-quality medicine in a supportive, collaborative environment where their voice is valued, their well-being matters, and they have the autonomy to practice medicine in a way that aligns with their professional values.

Why Greenfield Animal Hospital?
  • Independently owned with a strong commitment to patient care over production metrics
  • Unlike many corporate hospitals, our doctors have a meaningful voice in how medicine is practiced and how the hospital continues to grow
  • AAHA-accredited and committed to high standards of medicine
  • Certified Cat Friendly Practice through the Feline Veterinary Medical Association (FelineVMA), with a dedicated cat-only area designed to reduce stress and create a more comfortable experience for our feline patients
  • Low-stress handling techniques that prioritize the emotional well-being of our patients
  • Collaborative team of experienced doctors, technicians, and support staff
  • Flexible scheduling that supports work-life balance
  • A positive, respectful workplace culture where teamwork matters

We recognize that every veterinarian has different professional goals, scheduling preferences, and priorities. Compensation is customized based on experience, schedule, and responsibilities, allowing us to create a package that reflects the value each doctor brings to our team. From hourly to salary, we will find what works for you!

We offer:
  • Flexible full or part-time scheduling designed around your availability
  • Competitive compensation tailored to experience and schedule
  • Continuing education allowance and dedicated CE time
  • Payment of professional licensing fees and professional dues
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible full-time team members
  • Generous paid time off for eligible full-time team members
  • A collaborative team environment where quality medicine comes first

Whether you're looking for one day per week, several days per week, or a pathway to a full-time position, we're happy to discuss a schedule and compensation package that fits your goals.

What You'll Do

As an Associate Veterinarian, you'll have the opportunity to practice a wide range of small animal medicine while developing lasting relationships with clients and their pets.

Responsibilities include:
  • Performing comprehensive examinations and developing individualized treatment plans
  • Diagnosing and treating medical conditions
  • Providing preventive care, wellness services, and client education
  • Performing surgeries and dental procedures, if desired, based on your interests and experience
  • Interpreting diagnostic tests, including radiographs and laboratory results
  • Managing acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Collaborating closely with our veterinary technicians and support team
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Upholding AAHA standards, low-stress handling principles, and Cat Friendly practices
Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a veterinarian who combines strong medical skills with genuine compassion and a team-oriented mindset.

Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent)
  • Active Michigan veterinary license (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Experience in small animal general practice, at least one year
  • Strong foundation in small animal medicine and surgery, at least one year
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to patient advocacy and client education
  • Interest in low-stress handling and fear-free patient care
  • Positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues
