Lee's Summit Animal Hospital in Missouri is seeking a busy, established practice doctor to serve a diverse small animal caseload with a dedicated surgery day schedule and strong DVM & RVT support.
Join a long-standing hospital with a collaborative team offering mentorship, a four-day work week structure, and opportunities for growth within the National Veterinary Associates network.
Looking for a busy, established practice where you can practice great medicine, learn from an experienced team, and build lasting relationships with your clients?
At Lee's Summit Animal Hospital, you'll join a hospital that has been part of the Lee's Summit community for more than 60 years. Our doctors are consistently booked, and we're adding another small animal veterinarian to expand appointment availability, welcome new clients, and continue growing the practice.
You'll work alongside a collaborative team with more than 87 years of combined DVM experience and more than 120 years of combined RVT experience. Our doctors regularly collaborate on challenging cases, assist one another with procedures, and share their knowledge and experience throughout the day.
And because this is Lee's Summit, you never quite know what is going to walk through the door.
Our hospital has built something that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in veterinary medicine: a busy practice with a deeply established client base, an experienced team, and a genuine commitment to working together.
Our clients have trusted Lee's Summit Animal Hospital for generations. Our doctors don't just know the pets - They know the people, remember their names, and build the kind of relationships that keep families coming back year after year.
At the same time, the hospital continues to grow. This position is being added because our current doctors are consistently booked and we want to create additional appointment availability rather than turn away demand.
You'll have experienced support around you throughout the day.
Our doctors work collaboratively throughout the day. If a case is challenging, you don't have to figure it out alone. Doctors regularly discuss cases, share their knowledge, scrub in to assist with procedures, and help one another build confidence with new techniques.
Lee's Summit Animal Hospital is equipped to provide comprehensive veterinary care, including:
Each veterinarian who performs surgery currently has a dedicated surgery day, allowing you to build your schedule around the type of medicine you enjoy practicing.
Surgery days are supported by a dedicated team of 3–4 technicians/assistants, giving the surgery veterinarian the support needed to focus on patient care.
There are also opportunities to develop your skills in soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, orthopedic procedures, and other areas of interest.
While this is a small animal position, one of the things that makes Lee's Summit unique is the variety of patients and cases seen throughout the hospital.
You'll have the opportunity to practice general medicine, wellness, surgery, dentistry, and advanced diagnostics while working alongside veterinarians with different areas of expertise.
The hospital also sees a small number of exotic patients, providing an opportunity to gain exposure to exotics if that interests you.
A rewarding veterinary career should still leave room for life outside the hospital.
Located just outside Kansas City and ranked #4 among the best places to live in Missouri for 2026–2027, Lee's Summit offers the perfect balance of small-town community and big-city access. Enjoy excellent schools, beautiful parks and trails, great local restaurants, and a family-friendly community, all while being just a short drive from everything Kansas City has to offer.
Whether you're looking for a place to build your career, raise a family, or simply enjoy a great quality of life, Lee's Summit gives you room to grow both personally and professionally.
