Job description

Small Animal General Practice | Established Client Base | Dedicated Surgery Days | Strong DVM & RVT Support

Looking for a busy, established practice where you can practice great medicine, learn from an experienced team, and build lasting relationships with your clients?

At Lee's Summit Animal Hospital, you'll join a hospital that has been part of the Lee's Summit community for more than 60 years. Our doctors are consistently booked, and we're adding another small animal veterinarian to expand appointment availability, welcome new clients, and continue growing the practice.

You'll work alongside a collaborative team with more than 87 years of combined DVM experience and more than 120 years of combined RVT experience. Our doctors regularly collaborate on challenging cases, assist one another with procedures, and share their knowledge and experience throughout the day.

And because this is Lee's Summit, you never quite know what is going to walk through the door.

Why Lee's Summit Animal Hospital?

Our hospital has built something that is becoming increasingly difficult to find in veterinary medicine: a busy practice with a deeply established client base, an experienced team, and a genuine commitment to working together.

Our clients have trusted Lee's Summit Animal Hospital for generations. Our doctors don't just know the pets - They know the people, remember their names, and build the kind of relationships that keep families coming back year after year.

At the same time, the hospital continues to grow. This position is being added because our current doctors are consistently booked and we want to create additional appointment availability rather than turn away demand.

  • 60+ years serving the Lee's Summit community
  • Strong, established client base with high demand for care
  • 6 veterinarians and 8 RVTs
  • More than 87 years of combined DVM experience
  • More than 120 years of combined RVT experience
  • Collaborative doctors who regularly consult on challenging cases
  • Strong emphasis on mentorship and hands-on learning
  • Opportunities to keep appropriate cases in-house rather than immediately referring them out
A Team That Supports You

You'll have experienced support around you throughout the day.

  • Appointment doctors have a dedicated technician/assistant
  • The surgery veterinarian has 3–4 dedicated technicians/assistants
  • Dedicated kennel technician supporting surgery patients and providing additional hospital support
  • 8 RVTs across the hospital
  • Experienced doctors who regularly assist with procedures and help colleagues develop new skills

Our doctors work collaboratively throughout the day. If a case is challenging, you don't have to figure it out alone. Doctors regularly discuss cases, share their knowledge, scrub in to assist with procedures, and help one another build confidence with new techniques.

Lee's Summit Animal Hospital is equipped to provide comprehensive veterinary care, including:

  • In-house laboratory with reference laboratory access
  • Dedicated isolation ward
  • Electronic medical records with AI-powered note-taking tools
  • Dedicated soft-tissue surgery suite
  • Opportunities for orthopedic surgery exposure
Dedicated Surgery Time

Each veterinarian who performs surgery currently has a dedicated surgery day, allowing you to build your schedule around the type of medicine you enjoy practicing.

Surgery days are supported by a dedicated team of 3–4 technicians/assistants, giving the surgery veterinarian the support needed to focus on patient care.

There are also opportunities to develop your skills in soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, orthopedic procedures, and other areas of interest.

A Diverse Caseload

While this is a small animal position, one of the things that makes Lee's Summit unique is the variety of patients and cases seen throughout the hospital.

You'll have the opportunity to practice general medicine, wellness, surgery, dentistry, and advanced diagnostics while working alongside veterinarians with different areas of expertise.

The hospital also sees a small number of exotic patients, providing an opportunity to gain exposure to exotics if that interests you.

Work-Life Balance

A rewarding veterinary career should still leave room for life outside the hospital.

  • Four-day work week
  • Rotating Saturdays
  • Dedicated surgery days
  • Strong technician and assistant support
  • Collaborative environment designed to help doctors practice efficiently
As Part of National Veterinary Associates (NVA), You'll Also Enjoy:
  • Access to NVA's PetOne Veterinary Training Center for hands-on surgical and clinical training
  • Industry-leading Mentorship Program with dedicated one-on-one support
  • Support and resources to pursue ABVP certification while practicing, helping veterinarians advance their clinical expertise and professional goals
  • No non-compete agreement, providing flexibility and freedom throughout your career
  • 100% company-paid Short-Term Disability insurance, covering qualifying short-term illnesses, injuries, pregnancy, maternity, and parental leave
  • Professional development and leadership growth opportunities
  • Future partnership and ownership opportunities for doctors interested in practice leadership
Additional Benefits
  • Competitive compensation with production potential
  • Continuing education allowance and paid CE time
  • Paid professional dues and licensure
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee discounts on veterinary care and pet insurance
