Job summary

The Social Worker position is located at the Athens VA Clinic within the VA Augusta Health Care System (VAAHCS) in Athens, Georgia, part of the Social Work Service Line. The incumbent may be assigned to a variety of clinical programs with a wide range of outpatient and inpatient activities, providing psychosocial care, treatment planning, and coordination for Veterans.

Required are U.S. citizenship, an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, state licensure/certification, and proficiency in English.

Qualifications

• MSW from CSWE-accredited program.
• Must be licensed or certified to practice social work at the state level.
• English language proficiency required.
• GS-9/GS-11 eligibility with licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform psychosocial assessments and formulate treatment plans.
• Coordinate community resources and referrals.
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling to veterans and families.
• Discharge planning and linkage to outpatient services.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
