Job summary

VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare Systems is actively recruiting for a Recreation Therapist within the Recreation Therapy Service. The incumbent will provide therapeutic care and rehabilitation to Veterans facing complex medical and mental health challenges.

Applicants pending education/certification requirements may be tentatively selected but must meet all requirements before hire. The role requires meeting basic qualifications within 30 days of the closing date.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation or related field; must be approved by NCTRC or CTRS certification.
• CTRS certification required or eligibility with appropriate conditions.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Ability to apply evidence-based therapies and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic recreation services to Veterans with complex medical and mental health challenges.
• Assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate treatment.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about recreation therapy interventions.

Education
