Job summary

Boley Centers in Florida is seeking a dedicated staff member to support veterans in recovery services. You will assist in assessing needs, developing plans, and connecting veterans to work, family, and community resources.

The role requires strong communication, counseling, and crisis intervention skills, with a focus on independence and relapse prevention. On-site work and regular meetings are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of responsible work experience, preferably with veterans.
• Knowledge of recovery model, counseling techniques, verbal crisis intervention, and mental health/substance use disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Recovery team to assess the strengths and needs of veterans in the Program by directly observing/teaching skills.
• Assist with recovery plans that seek to restore a veteran’s functioning in key roles in life such as work, family and community.
• Build working relationship and maintain regular contact with veterans.
• Communicate veterans' needs to the Team and report unusual events, activities and incidents to supervisor or appropriate team member.
• Help veterans access resources in the community such as recreational activities, work, medical, dental, etc.
• Mentor veterans in recovery activities such as symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction and work readiness.
• Directly transport and teach public transportation to veterans to support independence.
• Attend agency-wide meetings and comply with Compliance Plan and standards of conduct.

Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of the worker or others.Working ConditionsWork primarily indoors, however, some exposure to outdoors when traveling between facilities or other locations. May be exposed to such environmental conditions as fumes, odors, dust, variable temperatures; exposure to a potential hazard may occur when handling household cleaning chemicals, physical hazard may exist when dealing with unstable or difficult client/tenant.Physical RequirementsExerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
