Job summary

Fermilab in Batavia, IL invites motivated students and veterans to participate in the VetTech Mechanical Intern program. Under direct Fermilab supervision, you'll assist with fabricating, setting up, calibrating, operating and testing mechanical equipment, while contributing to ESH tasks and environment surveys.

The internship runs June 14, 2027 to August 6, 2027 with a $20/hour rate. Housing stipend and travel reimbursement are provided for eligible interns; on-site location offers hands-on

Qualifications

• Must be in the military or veteran
• Proof of identity
• Eligibility to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine technical support for the assigned area; fabricate, set up, calibrate, operate, test, repair and/or modify mechanical equipment.
• Work under direct supervision of Fermilab staff and in cooperation with project teams, scientists, engineers and support personnel.
• Perform ESH duties including environmental surveys, waste disposal and radiological surveys.
