Job summary

Military.com is seeking a Field Content Creator with prior military service to bring real stories from the military community to our social channels. You will handle ideas through filming, interviewing, scripting, and editing, and must connect naturally with service members, veterans, and military families.

This hands-on role requires editing from raw footage to final cuts, creating vertical formats for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.

Qualifications

• Must have prior military service and firsthand understanding of U.S. military life.
• Confident on-screen presence and ability to build rapport with diverse subjects.
• Portfolio showing filmed and edited video content including on-camera speaking.
• Proficiency with video editing tools (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut).
• Practical filming skills: framing, lighting, and audio in field conditions.
• Strong storytelling, interviewing, and writing skills with accuracy and respectful representation.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and attend shoots as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Pitch original stories and recurring video ideas rooted in military life, veteran experiences, military culture, careers, and community events.
• Host videos on camera, conduct interviews, and record clear voiceovers. Be comfortable speaking naturally, asking follow-up questions, and working from a script when needed.
• Film in the field at approved events and locations, capturing interviews, supporting footage, and behind-the-scenes moments with a phone or camera.
• Own the edit from raw footage to finished video, including strong opening hooks, pacing, captions, audio cleanup, basic color correction, and graphics.
• Create vertical videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook, adapting each edit to the platform and audience.
• Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and editorial and video teams on briefs, story accuracy, shoot plans, deadlines, and feedback.
• Arrange interviews and shoot logistics, secure required filming permissions and participant releases, and follow editorial guidance on sensitive topics and military information.
• Deliver organized footage and finished assets on schedule, make agreed revisions, and use performance feedback to improve future content.
