Job summary

Tahoma Veterinary Hospital, part of National Veterinary Associates, offers a Veterinary Externship to veterinary students. Externs work with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on clinical experience, including histories, exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery under supervision.

Programs are designed for 3rd and 4th year students and typically last two to eight weeks. A travel/living stipend of $1,500 is provided to eligible students.

Qualifications

• Externship experience at an NVA hospital with a supportive environment and commitment to excellent medicine.
• Gained exposure to gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, and observing or performing surgical procedures.
• Opportunity to practice communication with the medical team, staff, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Glean patient histories and perform physical exams.
• Create and implement treatment plans and diagnostics.
• Assist with dentistry services and surgical procedures as directed.
• Support medical management of patients and communicate with clients.
