Job summary

White Oaks West Animal Hospital is offering a Veterinary Externship for interested students. You will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain hands-on experience in patient histories, exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery, while also developing communication with the medical team and clients.

Externships typically range from two to eight weeks and are open to all veterinary students.

Qualifications

• Clinical training includes gathering patient histories, performing physical exams and creating treatment plans.
• Experience with diagnostics, dentistry services, and medical management of patients.
• Opportunities to observe, assist or perform surgical procedures and develop client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams under supervision.
• Assist in or perform dentistry services and surgical procedures.
• Create and discuss treatment plans with the veterinary team and clients.
• Support clinical management and day-to-day hospital operations.
