Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) invites veterinary students in their clinical rotation year to participate in externships at University West Pet Clinic. Externs will work closely with a supervising veterinarian to gain hands-on experience in histories, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgical observation or participation.

Externships typically span two to eight weeks, with eligible students receiving a travel/living expense stipend.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled veterinary students in the clinical rotation year.
• Must be able to work under supervision and follow clinical protocols.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories under supervision.
• Perform physical exams and assist in treatment planning.
• Create and adjust diagnostic plans and medical management.
• Participate in dentistry services and observe/assist or perform surgical procedures.
• Develop communication skills with medical team, staff, and clients.
