Heartland Veterinary Partners' Alton Animal Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care, exams, and in-house lab work. The role includes preparing patients for procedures and assisting with radiographs, medications, and treatments in a friendly, team-focused environment.

Responsabilités

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Assist outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, and provide client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during surgery.
• Obtain blood, stool, and other samples; perform in-house lab work and prepare specimens for outside laboratories.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Clean and straighten exam rooms, treatment and lab areas; restock supplies and keep public areas clean.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all client interactions; show compassion for patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team members about client discussions, patient plans, and concerns.
• Any other duties as assigned.
